fiction: comic books
bigger: art work
Two artists did some amazing work on this project, Eric Battle and Jeik. I'm including all of their artwork here, because they drew some amazing stuff. I listed Jeik first because his work is more recent and because, with less of it, I thought it might get lost underneath the rest of it.
If I still considered this a viable project, I'd do pages for each individual image, with comments and all that. However, this started to feel like my failed marriage -- good work after bad, with no end in sight and nothing good coming from it. So you get the images, sorry about that.
Anyhoo, here goes ...
JEIK
- The title character as envisioned by Jeik
I am not a fan of the shorts -- he was gonna make those long cargo style pants, but we never got around to it before Speakeasy imploded.
- The main antagonist, David Dillon
The line work was a little less detailed as he'd done on Bigger, but I do like the sort of Udon-styled depictions he did here, a very different style than the mini comic he'd given me when we met, or from other stuff in his portfolio. A pleasant surprise.
- Jeik's sketching workspace
I found this a fascinating look into Jeik's creative process.
ERIC BATTLE
Okay, just one page for this stuff, because the two-page spread reallly should be seen in all its glory ...
COVERS
Here are some images I had in mind for the cover ...
- Front cover, draft one (an early attempt -- close, but the costume on Ray wasn't quite right ...)
- Front cover, draft two (I was probably gonna go with this one, once the costume got fixed)
- Inside front cover, draft one (I was gonna change "insidetext.txt" on that one part, but whatever)
