kwanzaa 2005
happy kwanzaa
QUICK LINKS
Kwanzaa is a holiday for Afrakan people created by Dr. Maulana Karenga. It is a celebration of Afrakan values and family. Sure, there are some questions about origins and motivations behind this and that, but that's not really my bag. I'm about the celebration. Of course, I am much more in favor of this than the western favorite, but let's concentrate on good things and not bad ones.
Kwanzaa is based on the principles of the Nguzo Saba ...
- UMOJA (unity)
- KUJICHAGULIA (self-determination)
- UJIMA (collective work and responsibility)
- UJAMAA (cooperative economics)
- NIA (purpose)
- KUUMBA (creativity)
- IMANI (faith)
For more information, click through the link above. I'm sure Dr. Karenga and his staff can explain these things well. As far as I go, every year I do a mix CD, (liner notes can be found here).
I also annually post a list of gifts I'd love to get, over on the Gift Guide, which is useful for selections either for Kwanzaa or my January 20th birthday.
In any case, I wish you and yours a happy holiday this year, regardless of what you celebrate.
Missing something? Can't figure something out? Ask, and thou shalt receive.
