| operative network | professional site: 411 - design - store

DATES:
June 1999-August 1999

SPECIFICS:
HTML and graphic design and production, copy writing and editing.

OVERVIEW:
I was brought in on a contractor basis through Aquent Partners to implement a design for a "Studio Store," spotlighting licensed merchandise from movies the site sold as DVDs.

The design was considered unworkable by my second day -- it ignored the site's conventions (i.e. navigation on the right side, at the time) and its color schemes clashed with the rest of the site. I spent the better part of a month retrofitting these elements and getting them approved.

The actual production of the studio store was a great deal of fun, involving memorabilia from films I'd seen an enjoyed. I worked, using Microsoft Sourcesafe for version control, on a variety of site pages, integrating the studio store into the site at large. I set image specs, created and edited images for the site, and finally published the thing. The call from eHobbies came through a few days before the end of my contract, so the parting was amicable.
